DAVID TRUBRIDGE
Early to implement sustainable design practices, David Trubridge innovates green business modelling and lighting design.
With distribution in over 50 countries, David has encountered many knock-offs of his award-winning lighting, successfully defending replicas in many cases by utilising new technologies to eradicate counterfeit versions of his work.
Trubridge scored an unprecedented win against seven Australian retailers, who were forced to destroy existing stock, including 2-container loads of product.
David and AMS from the ADA appeared on ABC Radio National; DT has joined many ADA panels, including OWNING AUSTRALIAN DESIGN, DENFAIR 2018.
FEBRIK
Dutch brand Febrik created textured 2D and 3D upholstery textiles from a process discovered after husband and wife duo Jos Pelders and Renee Merckx began experimenting when working at a local company that made mattress fabrics.
“We make knitted upholstery textiles” co-founder Jos Pelders explains of their process, “and whilst knitting is popular in fashion, in upholstery it has always been about woven textiles.” It might sound simple, but effectively the brand rewrote upholstery typology by adding new possibilities for furniture designers created by the unique stretch of the fabrics.
