Authentic Design Alliance Member Pledge and Terms & Conditions
As an Authentic Design Alliance (ADA) member, you back original design and agree to use ADA logos correctly.
Read this page before joining or renewing memberships.
It explains your commitment to authenticity, how to use ADA member badges and logos, and what happens if your membership changes.
Authentic Design Alliance (ADA) members agree to:
1. SUPPORT ORIGINAL DESIGN
I/We actively support original design and reject copies and replicas of authentic products; we also commit not to create, make, specify, sell, or market copies of original designs.
If a breach occurs in error, I/We will act quickly to remove the products and rectify the issue. The ADA may review our response and may suspend or revoke membership.
2. RESPECT ADA LOGO LICENCE + TRADE MARKS
I/We acknowledge that ADA logos and member badges are registered Australian trade marks.
I/We will only use ADA logos in accordance with the ADA Logo Licence and will remove all ADA logos and badges from our channels if membership is suspended, revoked, or not renewed.
3. COMMUNICATE RESPONSIBLY
I/We will communicate about ADA issues factually and professionally, including on social media.
I/We will avoid abusive, defamatory or offensive language in comments made in connection with ADA campaigns or content.
4. MEMBERSHIP FEES + TERM
I/We understand that membership fees are paid 12 months in advance, are non-refundable, and directly support ADA advocacy, education, events and content.
I/We acknowledge that if fees are overdue, membership and logo usage rights may be suspended or cancelled.
5. SOCIAL MEDIA BEST PRACTICE
I/We understand that public support of replica resellers, including visible “likes” and follows, may conflict with ADA membership obligations and may be reviewed by ADA.
6. OUR TERMS MAY CHANGE
I/We understand that ADA may update its terms, logo licence and related policies.
I/We will review the current Terms & Conditions and Logo Licence published on the ADA website and keep our use of ADA assets in line with these updates.
1. ADA Logo and Member Badge Licence
1.1 Purpose
The Authentic Design Alliance (ADA) member logo and related assets publicly demonstrate your commitment to original design and support for products and brands that promote product authenticity.
These terms set out who can use the ADA logo, how it may be used, and when its use must stop.
The licence permits Silver, Bronze and Foundation members to use our logos for (1x) Australian business entity.
Platinum members can use our logos for 3x Australian business entities (they own), and Gold, 2x owned Australian entities.
This is not transferable to any third party or additional businesses owned by the member.
1.2 Who may use the ADA logo
- The ADA logo and member badge are registered trade marks of the Authentic Design Alliance.
- Use is granted only to current financial ADA members whose membership class includes logo usage rights.
- Eligible users:
- ADA Member brands and businesses
- Recognised ADA event and affiliate partners, with written permission
- Individuals or businesses that are not current financial members (or do not have written permission) must not use the ADA logo or member badge in any form.
1.3 Nature of the licence
Subject to these terms:
- The ADA grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the ADA member logo and badge.
- The licence:
- Applies only while your membership is current and financial
- Applies only to your own business and brands listed in your membership
- Does not allow you to sub-license, transfer or pass the logo to third parties
The ADA may withdraw this licence at any time if you breach these terms or the ADA Code of Conduct.
1.4 Approved assets
“ADA logo suite” includes:
- ADA member logo/member badge artwork supplied by the ADA
- Approved logo lock-ups for:
- Email signatures
- Website use and digital templates, including EDM footers.
- Marketing materials and presentations
- Physical decals/stickers for your place of business (on request)
Only the official files supplied by the ADA may be used. Do not recreate, redraw or imitate the logo.
ADA® Logos must be orange and white or in greyscale, and not altered in shape or colour. Black ADA logos must be removed from circulation.

1.5 What you can say
You may use the ADA logo and badge to communicate that:
- Your business is a current Authentic Design Alliance Member
- Your brand supports original design and does not trade in replica or counterfeit furniture, lighting or related products
- You align with the ADA’s advocacy for design protection and sustainable and ethical practice
You must not use the logo in a way that:
- Implies the ADA has tested, certified or endorsed a specific product, project or claim, unless the ADA has given that approval in writing
- Misleads consumers about your membership status or activities
- Suggests the ADA is legally responsible for your work, services or warranties
1.6 Core conditions of use
When you use the ADA logo or member badge, you agree to:
- Only use the official artwork supplied by the ADA
- Follow the application rules in the ADA Member Logo Guidelines
- Keep your ADA membership current and financial
- Remove or update the logo immediately if:
- Your membership lapses or is cancelled
- The ADA issues an updated logo suite
- Stop using the logo if the ADA notifies you in writing that your licence is withdrawn.
You must not alter the logo files in any way:
- Do not change colours, fonts, proportions or wording in the logo
- Do not add extra words, tags or graphics inside the logo lock-up
- Do not place the ADA logo inside your own logo
- Do not animate, distort or crop the logo in ways that remove legibility or the complete lock-up
1.7 Digital use
You may apply the ADA logo and badge in digital formats, including:
- Email signatures for all team members
- Website:
- Footer on all pages
- About page
- Member or partner page
- Contact page
- EDM templates and newsletters
- Quotations, company bios and marketing materials
- Digital brochures, lookbooks and brand decks
- Social media posts and profiles (where practical)
Whenever you mention or link to the ADA online:
- Use the full name, Authentic Design Alliance, on first reference, and ‘ADA’ thereafter.
- Link to https://authenticdesignalliance.org every time “Authentic Design Alliance” appears in body text or captions where a link is possible
1.8 Physical use
You may apply the ADA logo and badge in physical formats, including:
- ADA member decals on your showroom, studio or store entrance
- Printed brochures and catalogues
- Trade show and exhibition signage
- In-store point-of-sale and swing tags (subject to pre-approval for layout)
- Press kits and printed brand bios
Physical applications must follow the same clear space, minimum size and colour rules as digital use.
1.9 Prohibited uses
You must not:
- Use the ADA logo if you sell, promote or manufacture replica or counterfeit products
- Use the ADA logo on products, packaging or swing tags in a way that implies product certification, unless the ADA has agreed in writing.
- Use the ADA logo in any political, discriminatory, defamatory or unlawful context.
- Combine the ADA logo with any imagery that conflicts with ADA values (eg explicit replica promotion, “inspired by” knock-offs, or misleading discount messaging)
1.10 Termination
Your licence to use the ADA logo ends immediately if:
- Your membership expires or is suspended
- You resign from membership
- You materially breach the ADA Constitution, Code of Conduct or these terms
When your licence ends, you must:
- Remove the ADA logo and badge from your website, email signatures and all digital channels as soon as practical.
- Remove or cover ADA decals from your physical premises within a reasonable time.
- Stop printing any new material that displays the ADA logo
The Authentic Design Alliance may take further action if misuse continues, including legal action under Australian trade mark and consumer law.
1.11 Accessing logo files and decals
- Logo assets, including your ADA member badge, are supplied on signup
- ADA decals for your place of business are available on request for all current financial members

We encourage you to make your ADA membership visible across your brand:
Digital
- Email signatures for all staff
- Website footer on every page
- About page and team bios
- Member or partner page
- EDM templates and digital newsletters
- Brand decks, press kits and online brochures
Physical
- ADA decals at the entrance to your showroom, studio or store
- Event and exhibition signage
- Printed catalogues, brochures and media kits
- Project signage
- Fleet vehicles
When mentioning the ADA online, always hyperlink Authentic Design Alliance to authenticdesignalliance.org.
2.2 Recommended wording for your website “About” section
