This unique program celebrates emerging talent across architecture, interior, and product design, offering career-defining opportunities for Australia’s next generation of design practitioners.
The (Emerging) Designer Awards
The (Emerging) Designer Awards provide a high-profile platform for early-career designers and architects to showcase their work across four major categories:
- Commercial Interior
- Residential Interior
- Residential Architecture
- Product Design (in partnership with New Volumes)
Winners will gain global exposure through The Local Project, including a dedicated video feature, editorial coverage, and the opportunity to secure a product contract with New Volumes – joining a curated stable of Australia’s leading designers.

Entry Criteria – Eligible applicants must:
- Hold a tertiary qualification in architecture or design
- Have an active practice (established in the past 5 years)
- Be a full-time Australian-based designer or architect
Project entries must:
- Be completed in Australia (2023 or later)
- Be a minimum of 100sqm (interior categories: 3+ rooms)
- Be available for documentation and interviews (Aug–Sep 2025)
Product design entries must:
- Be original (no existing commercial contracts)
- Be suitable for terracotta production using chalk moulds
- Include sketches, renders, and rationale
Key Dates
- Entries close: 8 July 2025
- Filming & interviews: August–September 2025
- Judging: Five leading industry figures across architecture, interior and product design
